Behind the Scenes of Starting a Template Shop

Building out a template shop was something I never thought of doing, but once I started there was no going back. Let’s break down all the behind the scene, nitty-gritty, of launching a template shop. From the why, to the how, to my favorite moments.

Why I built a template shop:

Passion projects and creating for fun has always been one of my favorite parts of being a designer, so the chance to take those passion projects and turn them into a product that can help others was a no-brainer. I built this shop specifically for the wellness and fitness industry to help coaches and trainers better serve their clients. Growing up in the industry, being a personal trainer, and having parents in the wellness space has given me an inside look on the pain points founders have. I took that knowledge and built out website templates that will help those in the wellness space take their business to the next level without taking any time away from their clients.

How I built the shop:

Let’s break down the process behind each template.

1. I always start with a deep dive into inspiration. I will put a mood board together and start to find the direction and style for the brand. Often times I will find a font or color palette that I love and it evolves from there.
2. Next I start the actual branding design and establish the logos, font pairings, and color palette.
3. Then the fun, designing the template! I do a layout of each page and the general sections within the pages before starting any design. From there, I design out the home page and build the remainder of the pages.
4. Once everything is built out, I do a final check that everything looks good and buttons direct to where they go.

Favorite parts:

I love designing brands. It is one of my favorite things to do, and I am always thinking of something fun to create. So the chance to build out my visions and use them to help others in the wellness industry has been so awesome. My favorite template in the first launch is the AnnaMarie Pilates Queen. It was so fun to create and has such a unique vibe.

Building out a template has so many benefits from the entrepreneur and business side of things. As a designer, as an entrepreneur, having multiple streams of income is so important. This shop has been so amazing to create and I cannot wait for you all to explore it and build your own amazing websites!
